Duke the Dog needs a home

Age:18 months
Gender:Male
Color:Liver & White
Weight:48 lbs
Variety:Field

Hi -- I'm Duke! I came to my foster home after a family turned me in at a shelter. The shelter wasn't sure if it was my former family or another family who found me. But there I was, at the shelter. Then ESRA stepped in and helped me settle into this nice foster home. Let me tell you some things about myself!

First, you should know that I am a great car rider. I got to meet several people on my trip to my foster home, and each of those drivers said I was the perfect travel companion. Although I need a little warm-up time with new people, I really love everyone I meet. However, because I'm nervous at first, my foster mom says that my new home should have either just adults or adults with children over the age of thirteen.

Once I get to know you, my youthful energy takes over. I am not supposed to jump up, but when I get comfortable and happy, I forget! I also like to run around the yard with a frisbee or ball my mouth.

My foster mom says that I probably did not live inside the house in my past life because we are still working on housetraining. But I'll get it!

Once you persuade me to get into a crate, I settle in and am quiet. I do love food, and I want to learn. I love to play the find-the-ball game. I can find it even if you hide it behind a curtain and I cannot see it. I can also find critters in the yard!

I like other dogs just fine, but I don't remember ever living with a cat. Leash walking? What's that? Is a leash the thing my foster mom got all twisted in when she hooked me up? Oops, that may have been my fault. (I guess I do need work on leash walking.)

I am a happy young guy, and I just want a family of my own so that I can cuddle with my favorite people. Do you have room for me beside you?

Love,

Duke
